As 2017 quickly comes to an end, I can’t help but to reflect on the many personal and professional milestones of this past year, of which, one is the privilege of serving as the President of this long-established association. It is with great honour that I am sending this year’s holiday season message to our distinguished membership.
This has been a fantastic year for us. We successfully orchestrated six dinner events and one credit conference. Many thanks for the support from our members and our dedicated Board of Directors who serve our Association with unwavering commitment on a volunteer basis. Like everyone else, Board members face changing landscapes in their own respective businesses and even while challenged with more time investment needed in the office we have continued to progress as an association and put ourselves into a position to make 2018 a reflection of our best efforts.
I would also like to extend my gratitude and appreciation to our generous sponsors for their enormous contribution this past year and continued participation in 2018.
We are persistently striving to look for ways to improve our Association and provide greater value to our members and sponsors alike. While your Board of Directors works diligently to source dynamic and interesting speakers we are always open to suggestions and guidance from our members. Speakers this past year included the likes of the Honourable Peter MacKay and celebrity Ann Kaplan. Based on feedback we received, attendees found great value in our events.
As we look forward, the New Year provides a fresh start and with that comes renewed energy and excitement and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead. It is in our best interests to stay relevant and continue with our mandate to provide a dynamic forum where we can exchange and present new ideas in a collaborative networking environment.
Our new year kicks off January 23rd with Benjamin Tal, Deputy Chief Economist for CIBC, World Markets. Mr. Tal will provide insights on what has occurred this past year and what we can expect in 2018 & beyond and how market shifts may impact us moving forward.
Registration is open and seats are limited so please register early.
In closing, we are extremely excited about the prospects of what is ahead and hope that you will share in them by putting forth your suggestions, volunteering your time & expertise and attending our events.
I wish you and your families a joyful holiday season and my best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2018.
I look forward to seeing you at our events.
John Kim, President
